Have lovely night with ‘Cinderella’
The title character of the newest stage version of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella is no mousy waif waiting for her prince to come and rescue her; she’s a smart, socially conscious young woman who teaches her prince how to be a better leader. But it still has all the favorite songs you remember: A Lovely Night, In My Own Little Corner, Impossible/It’s Possible. The touring company plays E.J. Thomas Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; tickets are $10-$75 at 330-253-2488, www.broadwayinakron.com.
Keep calm and take a news break
It’s Election Day, and this contentious campaign has left a lot of people stressed out. Here are some tips for calming down:
• Exercise can help you deal with stress; take a walk instead of arguing on Facebook.
• Try meditation, or just sitting quietly and breathing for a few minutes.
• Take a break from newscasts and social media to watch a couple of cat videos or soothing nature cams.
• Listen to music that gives you bliss, whether it’s New Age piano, thrash metal or that inescapable new Bruno Mars song.
• Some local places of worship will be open today for prayer and quiet reflection. Check with yours.
• And, of course, be sure to vote. It’s the only tangible way to have an effect on the outcome.
