A Republican who took office in June to complete former GOP U.S. House Speaker John Boehner’s term has won election to a full term in his Ohio congressional district.
Warren Davidson is an Army Ranger veteran and businessman. He won the Republican nomination to succeed Boehner in a 15-candidate primary in March, getting backing from conservative advocacy groups Club for Growth and FreedomWorks. He won a special election in June for the Republican-dominated seat Boehner held for nearly 25 years.
Ohio’s congressional delegation remains unchanged, with all 12 Republican and four Democratic incumbents winning re-election.
With incumbent-friendly districts, the most likely changes will come from primary challenges, retirements or incumbents seeking other offices.
Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan won election to an eighth term and is considered a potential statewide contender.
