People Helping People — Nov. 15

People Helping People is a list of charitable causes in our area that need donations or volunteers. The Beacon Journal has not investigated these causes, so donors should verify their worthiness and the tax-deductibility of contributions.

A link to the form charities can use to submit requests to People Helping People can be found at www.ohio.com/charity, along with tips on researching charities and a list of causes already published.

The Salvation Army of Massillon, 315 Sixth St. NE, Massillon, OH 44646, is seeking volunteers to ring bells at red kettles in the Massillon area. Different days and locations are available Nov. 25 to Dec. 24.

Individuals, corporations, churches, civic groups and families are encouraged to help. The minimum is two hours.

Akron Bible Church, 783 Brown St., Akron, OH 44311, will distribute 1,000 food baskets and supply toys and gifts to more than 150 families through its Baskets of Love Christmas outreach.

It is seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys, turkeys and money. In addition, it needs volunteers to help pack food baskets and distribute them to various public housing sites

Toys will be collected from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 25 at the church. Toy donors and potential volunteers may also contact Henri Etta Lockhart at fletcherhenri@gmail.com.

Monetary gifts may be sent to Baskets of Love at Akron Bible Church, P.O. Box 1032, Akron, OH 44309-1032. Checks should be made out to Baskets of Love at Akron Bible Church.

Project Ed Bear, which provides comforts and fills needs for children with cancer in Northeast Ohio, is holdings its fundraising Gala Auction from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 28 at Quaker Station, 135 S. Broadway, Akron.

Tickets are $30 and are available at www.projectedbear.org.
