Clauses to arrive Sunday
NORTH CANTON: The city’s annual Christmas Sing and Tree Lighting event will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday off the Square at Bitzer Park.
Street closings will begin at 3 p.m.
A portion (curb lane only) of South Main Street from Bitzer Street Southeast will be closed. East Maple Street will be closed from the Square to McKinley Avenue Southeast.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at about 5:45 p.m. on a firetruck provided by the North Canton Fire Department.
PORTAGE COUNTY
Park district master plan
RAVENNA: The Portage Park District is offering an opportunity for the public to review a draft of the Comprehensive Parks Master Plan from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Reed Memorial Library, 167 E. Main St., Ravenna.
The meeting will be held in the Haymaker/Jenkins Room.
The Portage Park District has completed a final draft of the Comprehensive Parks Master Plan to guide the district and its use of levy funds over the next 10 years.
STOW
Drop off Santa letters
STOW: Youngsters are invited to drop off letters for the North Pole at the city’s special Santa’s Mailbox, which is located outside City Hall at 3760 Darrow Road.
Letters will be collected through Dec. 19. Letters that include a self-addressed, stamped envelope will get a reply, thanks to volunteer elves at the Stow Senior Center.

Theft from disabled alleged
A 65-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was charged Thursday with stealing nearly $60,000 from a woman with developmental disabilities.
Larry Hudkins faces charges of theft, a second-degree felony, and is in the Summit County Jail.
Additional charges could be added pending the outcome of the investigation, according to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office received a report May 9 that a man has been misappropriating funds from a mentally disabled woman since April 2012. A detective assigned to the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board investigated.
The loss amount was about $58,290, according to the news release.
Tag your dog for 2017
AKRON: Dog licenses for 2017 are on sale through Jan. 31. Dog owners are required by state law to purchase the tags, which in Summit County cost $18 for a single year, $54 for three years and $180 for the life of the animal.
A late fee of $18 may be assessed.
In-person purchases can be made at the county’s Division of Animal Control at 250 Opportunity Parkway or Services Department at 1030 E. Tallmadge Ave. To apply online, visit fiscaloffice.summitoh.net/index.php/dog-licensing.

Plethora of holiday events
TALLMADGE: The city has turned its famed circle into a winter wonderland, with decorated trees, garland-wrapped lamp posts and huge wreathes on their historic buildings.
There are more activities to come:
• Santa Claus will appear at Community Center from 1-3 p.m. Sunday. A business chamber-sponsored event, Santa Claus comes in on a firetruck with sirens blaring and brings treats for youngsters. The Tallmadge Community Center is at 80 Community Road.
• The Tallmadge Library will host Holiday Story Time for children 2-6 at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Join in songs, stories and crafts.
• The city’s recreation center will host its “Polar Express Drop and Shop” program from 5-10 p.m. Dec. 10. Parents can finish holiday shopping after dropping off their kids in PJ’s for a night of Polar Express-themed fun with a craft, snack and movie screening.
