Vacant house fire
AKRON: Akron firefighters put out a fire at a vacant 2½-story house early Tuesday at 749 Noah Ave. in the city’s West Akron neighborhood.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire was reported at 5:18 a.m.

Injured Falls officer returns
CUYAHOGA FALLS: A city police officer who was injured in a crash in July is back on the job.
Cuyahoga Falls police posted a picture Tuesday morning of officer Ted Davis with other officers on its Facebook page.
“We are so happy to have Officer Ted Davis back in uniform,” the department wrote in a message. “His remarkable recovery was due to his hard work in rehab and all the support he received. Thank you to our wonderful community for all of your prayers and well wishes for him and all our officers.”
Davis, an 11-year veteran of the police department, was hospitalized for a week and then began rehabilitation after a suspect crashed into three parked patrol cars, fled the scene and then crashed into Davis’ cruiser.
Donald Watson, 46, who is in the Summit County Jail, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including counts of attempted murder and felonious assault.
Officer’s trial date set
CUYAHOGA FALLS: A trial has been scheduled for Jan. 5 for a police officer who accidentally fired a shot into a day care center while unloading a gun inside a home next door.
Ian McInnes, 33, a part-time officer in East Cleveland, was charged last month in Stow Municipal Court with one count of misdemeanor discharge of a weapon.
Police say McInnes accidentally fired a 9mm round Oct. 25 that pierced the outside wall of a Cuyahoga Falls day care center and lodged in the wall of a classroom with teachers and children inside. No one was injured.
East Cleveland has suspended McInnes without pay. His attorney called it an “unfortunate accident” Monday but declined to comment further.
NORTHFIELD CENTER
Sheriff’s Office relocates
NORTHFIELD CENTER TWP.: The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the community that it has relocated its district office in the township.
Deputies are now operating out of the former fire station at 60 W. Aurora Road, which has been named the Northfield Center Township Safety Building. Deputies previously worked out of the historic Town Hall at Northfield Center.
The relocation didn’t result in any changes to service or staffing.
Summit County
Consumers save $3 million
AKRON: United Way of Summit County Tuesday said more than 31,870 county residents have saved $3 million on prescription drugs through a partnership with FamilyWize.
The local United Way has promoted FamilyWize’s free prescription card since 2009. FamilyWize cards lower the cost of medicine by an average of 43 percent, United Way said,.
Anyone can use the FamilyWize prescription savings card, including people with Medicaid or Medicare. There is no eligibility criteria.

Child-support charges
A 42-year-old man has been arrested for owing more than $33,000 in child support and failing to pay support for more than 12 years.
After Matthew Uhr’s arrest, the mother of his child received a lump-sum payment of $15,000.
Uhr still owes $18,526.61 in support and is being held in the Summit County Jail.
Summit County Child Support Enforcement Agency investigators discovered Uhr was living with his mother in Shreveport, La.
He was arrested for criminal nonsupport and extradited to Summit County.
