Here is a list of road and lane closings in the Akron area:
Major highways abruptly closed: None.
AKRON:
• Interstate 76 lane restrictions and ramp openings: I-76 between South Main Street and the central interchange has occasional nightly lane restrictions in both directions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for road construction until further notice.
• Permanent road closings: The following roads will be permanently closed: I-76 westbound ramp to Main Street/Voris Street. Detour will be I-76 westbound to South Broadway to Thornton Street to South Main Street; East South Street between South Broadway and Miami Street. Detour will be East Miller Street to Bellows Street to East South Street; Sweitzer Street between East Thornton Street and East Crosier Street. Detour will be East Thornton Street to Grant Street to Crosier Street to Sweitzer Street; and East Voris Street between South Broadway and South Main Street. Detour will be South Broadway to Thornton to South Main.
• Ridge Street, between North Howard Street to Furnace Street: Closed through Dec. 23 for a sewer separation project. Traffic will detour via Furnace Street and North Howard Street.
• Riverside Drive, between Linden Avenue and Clifton Avenue: Closed through Jan. 6 for a sanitary sewer repair project. Traffic will detour via Riverside Drive, East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue and Murray Avenue.
• East Bartges Street, between South High Street and Broadway: Closed through September 2017 for road construction. Detour for eastbound West Bartges Street is Main Street to East Exchange Street and from South Broadway it will be East Exchange Street to South Main to Bartges.
• I-76, between Dart Avenue and Wolf Ledges Parkway: Nightly lane restrictions from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice for road construction.
• Wolf Ledges Parkway, over I-76/I-77: Closed until next summer for a bridge replacement. Detour will be Wolf Ledges to Crosier Street to Grant Street to Thornton Street.
• I-76 eastbound ramp, to Wolf Ledges Parkway: Closed permanently. Traffic will use the South Main Street exit.
• South Main Street and South Broadway, between Miller Avenue and South Street: Lane restrictions for gas main and service relocation until Dec. 22.
• Voris Street, between Sweitzer Street and South Broadway: Permanently closed. Detour will be Miller Street to Bellows Street to East South Street to Grant Street to Voris Street.
• Crosier Street, between South Main Street and South Broadway: Permanently closed. Detour is South Main to Long Street to Broadway.
• South Case Street, between East Market Street and South Arlington Street: Closed until late January for sewer work. A detour will be posted. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
• Coventry Street and Highview Avenue, between Palmetto Avenue and East Waterloo Road: Lane restrictions for gas main replacement through mid-December. A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions, except for a portion of the work that will require the south end of Coventry Street at East Waterloo to be closed. A detour will be posted at that time. Work zones will change as the project progresses so traffic patterns may change.
• Triplett Boulevard and Lindsay Avenue, between South Arlington Street and Kelly Avenue: Lane restrictions for gas main replacement through late December. A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions, except for a portion of the work that will require the east end of Lindsay Avenue to be closed. Work zones will change as the project progresses so traffic patterns may change.
• East Market Street, between South Arlington Road and South Case Avenue: The right lane eastbound in front of 1004 East Market Street will be closed until February for building demolition and park construction. The work is part of a sewer separation project. Traffic will be maintained.
• South Arlington Street, between East Exchange Street and Clark Street: Closed starting Wednesday for about three months for a sewer separation project. The intersection of Johnston and Arlington streets will be closed to traffic at the same time. Detours will be posted.
• West North Street, from North Howard Street to 300 feet west: Closed until late December for installation of new curb and catch basins and placement of new pavement. Eastbound traffic will be maintained and detours will be set up for westbound traffic.
• Clark Street, between Willet Street and Matthews Street: Closed until mid-January for sewer work. The Black Street intersection will remain open to cross traffic. Detours will use Inman Street, Johnston Street and Matthews Street. Emergency vehicles have access at all times.
• Cuyahoga Street, on the south side west of North Howard Street: Most of the eastbound right turn lane will be closed, but right turns will be permitted onto North Howard until late next year for work on the Howard Street Storage Basin. Traffic will be maintained in both directions.
• West Cedar Street and West Exchange Street, between Rhodes Avenue and Rand Avenue: Lane restrictions for road widening and underground utility work until late 2017. Traffic has been shifted into the left lanes and access to all of the side streets is being maintained.
• Ridgecrest Road, between Mayfair Road and Sunnyside Avenue: Closed until mid-January for sewer work for about four months. A detour is posted.
• West Emerling Avenue, between South Main Street and Firestone Parkway: Closed to traffic until late December for a full improvement project. A detour is posted.
• River Street, between East Exchange Street and South Case Avenue: Closed until about late January for building demolition work. A detour is posted.
• Market Street downtown exit ramp off state Route 59 East: Closed until the end of the year because of construction work starting along Dart Avenue, in preparation for removal of Route 59 between West Exchange Street and West Market Street starting in February.
• Merriman Road, between Memorial Parkway and Kingswood Drive: Closed for a gas main replacement and sewer separation project. Detour via Memorial Parkway and North Portage Path. It is expected to be closed until late December.
• Bank Street bridge, between North Case Avenue and Williams Street: Closed until Dec. 23 for a bridge replacement. A detour will be posted. Local traffic should use Kent Street and Williams Street to avoid construction.
• Eaton Avenue, between Newport and Merriman roads: Closed for several months for water main work. A detour is posted. Emergency vehicles have complete access at all times.
• Rand Avenue and Dart Avenue, between West Exchange Street and West Market Street: Traffic on both streets has been shifted into the right lanes as work is being completed in the left lanes. This is in preparation for the removal of state Route 59 between West Exchange and West Market which is planned for early 2017. Traffic will be maintained.
• West Waterloo Road, between Eagon Street and 30th Street Southwest: Closed for sewer reconstruction until mid-December. A detour is posted. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
• Glendale Avenue, from Rand Avenue to the intersection of Locust Street: Closed until late 2018 for work on the combined sewer overflows project at the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel. Detours will be posted. The right lane of West Mill Street, west of Dart Avenue, and the south 150 feet of Bates Street will also be closed. Detours will be posted.
• Hickory Street, between North Street and Memorial Parkway: Closed until late 2018 to prepare for work on the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel. It includes the temporary relocation of the Towpath Trail to Hickory Street from Maple Street to near Memorial Parkway.

Elsewhere in Summit County:
• I-76, between the Medina County line and Central Avenue in Norton and Barberton: Nightly lane restrictions through April for pavement repairs.
• Cleveland-Massillon Road, between Greenridge Road and Pleasant Drive in Norton: Occasional lane restrictions during off-peak hours through mid-December for road widening.
• State Route 18/Medina Road in Bath and Copley townships: Creekrun Road at Route 18 is now open. Route 18/Medina Road between I-77 and Medina Line Road has occasional lane restrictions for road construction.
• State Route 91 (North Avenue) southbound, between Howe Road and the Tallmadge Circle: Closed through Monday morning for road widening. Detour is Howe Road to state Route 261 (Northeast Avenue).
• State Route 91, between Post Road and Glenwood Drive in Twinsburg: Daily lane restrictions for widening of the southbound side of state Route 91 until further notice. The project also includes drainage repairs and installation of a roundabout on Route 91 and Glenwood Drive.
MEDINA COUNTY:
• I-76, at its interchange with state Route 94 (High Street) in Wadsworth: Intermittent single-lane closings on Route 94 (High Street) as part of the Route 94 corridor improvement project. New traffic patterns will be implemented as road widening is completed, including opening new lanes on Route 94 and new turn lanes on Route 94 and I-76 ramps. Work will continue on the structure over I-76 as well as drainage work on Route 94 through the winter.
• U.S. 42 (Pearl Road), from just south of Harding Street to just south of Fenn Road: Intermittent lane closings along the project corridor for waterline placement until further notice. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. There will be nightly lane closings Monday through Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. at the intersections of U.S. 42 and Reagan Parkway and U.S. 42 and Highland Road/Harding Road. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.
• Repp Road, between Congress Road and Franchester Road in Harrisville Township: Closed Monday and Tuesday for subsurface test drilling at the bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
• River Styx Road, between Fixler Road and Poe Road in Montville Township: Closed Tuesday and Wednesday for tree removal.
PORTAGE COUNTY:
• Allen Drive, between Erin Drive and Verona Avenue in Kent: Closed through late December for a bridge replacement. Detour will be Erin Drive to Fairchild Avenue to Hudson Road to Whetstone Drive to Verona Avenue.
• State Route 14 at Lake Rockwell in Streetsboro: Closed until further notice for emergency bridge replacement. Detour is state Route 303 to state Route 44.
STARK COUNTY:
• State Route 43, between 55th Street and Schneider Street in North Canton and Plain Township: Daily lane restrictions for drainage repairs until further notice.
WAYNE COUNTY:
No current projects to report.
Elsewhere in Northeast Ohio:
• I-71 northbound, between Pearl Road and Snow Road in Middleburg Heights: Noise barrier replacement until further notice. Shoulder closings and off-peak lane closings should be expected.
• I-71 slip ramps, between Fulton Road and Pearl Road: The shoulders will be closed for barrier repairs through December, along with the West 14th Street entrance ramp to I-71 southbound. Daily single-lane closings should be expected during off-peak travel times.
