WHEELING, W.VA.: The family of a West Virginia man who died after being pulled over in Ohio is suing the State Highway Patrol, alleging troopers didn’t provide proper care after he suffered a seizure in the back of a cruiser.
The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register reports Wheeling resident Perry Galloway Jr. was stopped on Interstate 70 in Guernsey County for a lane-change violation in a March 2015 encounter captured on dash-cam video.
The family’s attorney says troopers trained in CPR and first aid failed to provide that help after moving Galloway from the cruiser to the ground. The attorney alleges troopers didn’t offer medical attention because they were preoccupied with suspicions that Galloway had illegal drugs.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office said it hadn’t received the lawsuit and had no comment.
