MONTVILLE TWP.: Police are warning residents about a series of nighttime burglaries happening in the Medina County township.
Within the last week, four Montville homes were burglarized, and there was one attempted burglary that was thwarted when a homeowner yelled after waking up to the sound of a patio window being smashed at 3:30 a.m., township police said.
The most recent burglaries occurred in the northeast portion of the township near state Route 18 and River Styx Road. The break-ins followed two that occurred in the last month on the west side near state Route 3.
Lt. Matt Neil said on the department’s Facebook page that residents in some of the neighboring homes have reported their doorbells being rung at night. Police believe this may be one way the burglars determine if anyone is home before they kick in a door or break a window.
Police urged residents to stay vigilant, lock their doors, activate home security alarms or cameras and call police if they see a suspicious person or vehicle in the neighborhood.
Police posted a link to photos and a video of suspects on the Montville Police Department Facebook page.
