32-year-old gorilla dies
CLEVELAND: Officials at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo said one of its two western lowland gorillas has died.
The zoo announced Friday’s death of 32-year-old Bebac on its Facebook page. Zoo officials didn’t return messages seeking comment Saturday.
Bebac and 29-year-old Mokolo, the zoo’s other male western lowland gorilla, were diagnosed in 2008 with heart conditions that required treatment with drugs similar to what humans take for high blood pressure. Their health later was said to improve after the gorillas were put on high-fiber diets.
Dozens of people posted remembrances and photos of Bebac on the zoo’s Facebook page Saturday.

WADSWORTH
Refuse license fees rise
WADSWORTH: City Council on Tuesday approved legislation to increase license fees for independent refuse collectors in the city.
Service Director Robert Patrick said a study found Wadsworth was charging less than other cities.
The fee will increase from $75 per truck to $300 per truck with the money to be used for street improvements due to the wear and tear on streets by the large vehicles, Patrick noted.
In other action, the council gave the service director the authority to offer incentives to retain or obtain new commercial customers for the city’s refuse service.
The council also agreed to give a second reading to legislation that would put a 2.3-mill renewal levy with an additional 0.2 mill, for a total of 2.5 mills, on the May ballot to help fund the city’s emergency medical service.
