‘Idol’ winner stars in play
American Idol winner Ruben Studdard stars in The Bold and the Sanctified, a play about two small churches — one black, one white — that are forced by financial circumstances to combine their congregations, and how the characters struggle with “race, compromise, community, love, betrayal and survival.” The play is at 6 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St., Akron; tickets are $37-$52 at 330-253-2488, www.akroncivic.com.
Make space for art exhibit
It’s your last chance to see Intersections: Artists Master Line and Space at the Akron Art Museum. “To call it a feast for the eyes is a bit of an understatement,” wrote Beacon Journal art critic Anderson Turner. It features 3-D works that range all the way up to room-size installations. The Akron Art Museum is at 1 S. High St., Akron. 330-376-9185, www.akronartmuseum.org.
