Wayne County authorities say that a dead body found Sunday afternoon in Chippewa Township is not missing Lafayette Township Trustee Bryon Macron.
“We are still working on learning the identity of this victim,” the sheriff’s office wrote on its blog early Monday morning. “We can however say that it is not Lafayette Township Trustee Bryon Macron who is missing from Medina County.”
The body of a man was discovered in a wooded area just outside Doylestown by a woman walking her dog near Clinton Road at 4:30 p.m.
The case is being investigated as a homicide.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Wayne County coroner are assisting in the investigation.
After the body was discovered, there was speculation that it could be Macron, who disappeared Dec. 16.
Blood was found in his township office and his black sport utility vehicle, which was located on Beachside Drive in Chippewa Lake.
