NORTON: The city patched several deep potholes on state Route 21 Monday morning after several vehicles hit them and were damaged.

Service Director Ernie Reynolds estimated that the potholes were 6 inches deep and said motorists were unable to avoid them because there were so many. They also were filled with water at the time and it was raining, he said.

“They are all taken care of,” Reynolds said Monday afternoon.

It was unclear how many vehicles were damaged. Reynolds confirmed a motorist’s complaint that as many as 15 could have been involved. Police couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

The city is in charge of daily maintenance on the highway through the community.
