Evidence of bedbugs has been found at Arrowhead Primary School in the Copley-Fairlawn district.

Parents were notified via email Friday evening. Steve Robinson, the district’s business manager, said Monday that the district was notified Friday that someone had been exposed to bedbugs. Robinson declined to specify whether it was a student, teacher or staff member.

As a precaution, dogs were brought in to check for bedbugs. Evidence of bedbugs was found in three classroom areas: the music room, the computer room and Room 306. No evidence was found in any other part of the school.

An exterminator was brought in over the weekend, and the rooms were heated to get rid of the bedbugs, Robinson said. The dogs were brought back in Sunday.

One room, the music room, still had signs of the bugs and was sealed, Robinson said. It was to be retreated Monday after school, according to an email sent Sunday night from Principal Roman Capper. Music class was to be held in homeroom classes Monday and Tuesday.

To ensure bedbugs aren’t being carried back and forth to school, parents are advised to put all coats, clothes, hats, bookbags and other items into the dryer for a cycle to kill the bugs, according to the email. Parents also are asked to skim through any books that might have come back and forth from school.
