In what looks to be one of the best football recruiting classes in school history, Ohio State dipped heavily into the state of Texas to add talent.
Of the 20 players committed to Ohio State, five come from Texas, including the nation's top cornerback Jeffrey Okudah and Baron Browning, the nation's top outside linebacker. Both Browning and Okudah are already enrolled in classes in Columbus.
Another Texas stand out in the class is junior college transfer Kendall Sheffield. With Ohio State light on cornerbacks following the early departure of Gareon Conley and Marshon Lattimore, Sheffield will have a good opportunity to get early playing time.
As a whole, the class features five players classified as cornerbacks. In addition the top cornerback in Okudah, Shaun Wade who is rated as the nation's second best cornerback recruit is already enrolled in classes.
Ohio State may not be done there. According several reports, including one by Cleveland.com, the Buckeyes are heavily pursuing defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, another star from Texas. Wilson is rated as the nation's top defensive tackle prospect. He is expected to announce his decision at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, so it will be a long wait for head coach Urban Meyer.
Meyer is scheduled to talk with 97.1 FM in Columbus at noon Wednesday before holding a press conference with all media at 2 p.m.
