CLEVELAND: A medical examiner has positively identified the body found in an abandoned house as the 14-year-old Cleveland girl who went missing last week.
The body of Alianna DeFreeze was found Sunday night by Cleveland police searching for the teen not far from where she was last seen Thursday.
Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Thomas Gilson said Tuesday afternoon that the body was “consistent” with that of Alianna’s and hours later confirmed the identification.
The teen’s mother reported her missing after she failed to show up for school. Surveillance cameras recorded her getting off a public bus Thursday morning near where her body was found.
The FBI and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification are assisting Cleveland police in the investigation of Alianna’s disappearance.
