A full-service community hospital may be returning to Wadsworth.
Summa Health System today announced it has reached a settlement with the Wasdworth-Rittman Area Joint Township Hospital District, which sued Summa in 2014 for shrinking the hospital to little more than an emergency room and physician offices.
The case was scheduled to go to trial Feb. 13 in Medina County Common Pleas Court. The out-of-court settlement announced today comes less than a week after Summa’s board of trustees accepted the resignation of the health system’s CEO and President Thomas Malone.
It’s unclear if Malone’s departure had any influence in the settlment.
