‘Adviser’ baffles Sweden
Swedes are puzzled after a Fox News program featured a guest identified as a “Swedish defense and national security adviser” who’s unknown to the country’s Defense Ministry and Foreign Office. Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly convened an on-air faceoff Thursday over Swedish immigration and crime that included a man identified as “Swedish defense and national security adviser” Nils Bildt. Bildt linked immigration to social problems in Sweden and lamented what he described as liberal close-mindedness about the downsides of welcoming newcomers. But if viewers might have taken the “adviser” for a government insider, the Swedish Defense Ministry and Foreign Office told the newspaper Dagens Nyheter they knew nothing of him.

Girl shot to death after crash
A Houston woman says her 8-year-old daughter was shot to death following a traffic accident that resulted in gunfire. Investigators say the girl and her mother were driving on a Houston roadway around 2 a.m. Saturday when their Honda Accord hit a speeding Pontiac. Latoyia Thomas said the Pontiac’s driver abandoned the wreck and got into a sedan. Before driving away, Thomas said a woman in the vehicle fired at her and her daughter, who later died.
