Here is a list of road and lane closings in the Akron area:
Major highways abruptly closed: None.
AKRON:
• Interstate 76 lane restrictions and ramp openings: I-76 between South Main Street and the central interchange has occasional nightly lane restrictions in both directions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for road construction until further notice.
• Permanent road closings: The following roads will be permanently closed: I-76 westbound ramp to Main Street/Voris Street. Detour will be I-76 westbound to South Broadway to Thornton Street to South Main Street; East South Street between South Broadway and Miami Street. Detour will be East Miller Street to Bellows Street to East South Street; Sweitzer Avenue between East Thornton Street and East Crosier Street. Detour will be East Thornton Street to Grant Street to Crosier Street to Sweitzer Avenue; and East Voris Street between South Broadway and South Main Street. Detour will be South Broadway to Thornton to South Main.
• Fairbanks Place, between South Arlington Street and Buckingham Street: A portion of the street will be closed for sewer separation work. Fairbanks Place is usually one-way westbound but will open both ways to allow access for detoured traffic. Work will be split into two portions, but the project will be completed in late May.
• Copley Road, between Pickford Avenue and Juneau Avenue: The eastbound curb lane will be closed Monday only for sanitary sewer reconstruction. A flagger will maintain traffic on Juneau Avenue.
• North Adolph Street, between East Market Street and North Forge Street: A portion of the street will be closed starting Tuesday for west tower addition at Akron City Hospital. Access to the YMCA, Adolph Street parking deck and receiving deck will be available from East Market only. All remaining traffic will be detoured via East Market, Fountain and North Forge streets.
• West Bowery Street, between West Exchange Street and West State Street: One lane will be closed in each direction for about 18 months for construction of a building addition. Traffic will be maintained but shifted to provide a patient drop-off area at Akron Children’s Hospital.
• West Exchange Street, between Water Street and West Bowery Street: One through lane and metered parking on the north side of West Exchange will be closed in each direction for about 18 months for construction of a building addition. A minimum of two lanes will be maintained.
• East Market Street, from Adams Street to 900 feet west: A portion of the westbound curb lane will be closed until about Friday for gas main installation.
• Firestone Parkway, between West Firestone Boulevard and West Brookside Avenue: Closed on the northbound side for a sewer lining project until late March. A detour is posted. The southbound side will remain open to traffic. Emergency vehicles have access at all times.
• East Firestone Boulevard, at the intersection of Sweitzer Avenue: The intersection will be closed to all northbound, southbound and westbound traffic until Friday. Detours will be posted.
• East Exchange Street, between South Arlington Street and East Market Street: Closed to all traffic in the eastbound lanes until Friday. Detour via East Exchange, South Arlington and East Market. Emergency vehicles have complete access.
• Lexington Avenue and Linden Avenue, between East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue and Riverside Drive: Lane restrictions for a gas main replacement project. Work will be on the east side of Lexington and both sides of Linden, and along the north side of East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue between Lexington and Clifton avenues. Work zones and traffic patterns will change periodically. Flaggers will maintain traffic. The project will last about three months.
• Cuyahoga Street, between Sommers Court and North Howard Street: Closed for sewer work on the Howard Street Storage Basin. Detour via North Howard, West Tallmadge Avenue and Cuyahoga Street. The closing is expected to last 60 days and completion of the entire project is planned by the end of the year.
• MLK Jr. Boulevard/North Howard Street/North Main Street intersection: Closed until May for relocation of utilities and lowering of the intersection. Detours will be posted. Access to Furnace Street and Northside District businesses will remain available from North Howard, North Summit and East North streets.
• South Main Street, between West Brookside Avenue and West Firestone Boulevard: Lane restrictions for a sewer lining project until Friday. All lanes are expected to be reopened to traffic by the end of each day.
• Johnston Street, between South Arlington Street and McGowan Street: Closed for sewer separation work between from Champlain Street to Matthews Street until March 24. It will continue to shift westward a couple blocks at a time until it reaches McGowan Street in mid-April. Detours are posted. Access maintained for residents and emergency vehicles.
• East Bartges Street, between South High Street and Broadway: Closed through September for road construction. Detour for eastbound West Bartges Street is Main Street to East Exchange Street and from South Broadway it will be East Exchange Street to South Main to Bartges.
• I-76, between Dart Avenue and Wolf Ledges Parkway: Nightly lane restrictions from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice for road construction.
• East Wilbeth Road, between South Main Street and Hammel Street: The road is open to all traffic, though some unfinished work may cause occasional shifting of traffic as needed through winter.
• Wolf Ledges Parkway, over I-76/I-77: Closed until summer for a bridge replacement. Detour will be Wolf Ledges to Crosier Street to Grant Street to Thornton Street.
• I-76 eastbound ramp, to Wolf Ledges Parkway: Closed permanently. Traffic will use the South Main Street exit.
• Beech Street, west of Howard Street: Closed until May for a sewer separation project. Access will be maintained to local businesses and also between the Northside Connector Trail and the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath.
• Voris Street, between Sweitzer Avenue and South Broadway: Permanently closed. Detour will be Miller Street to Bellows Street to East South Street to Grant Street to Voris Street.
• Crosier Street, between South Main Street and South Broadway: Permanently closed. Detour is South Main to Long Street to Broadway.
• South Case Street, between East Market Street and South Arlington Street: Closed until Friday for sewer work. A detour will be posted. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
• Coventry Street and Highview Avenue, between Palmetto Avenue and East Waterloo Road: Gas main replacement has been completed, but there may be occasional lane closing and shifting of traffic through April for minor restoration work.
• West Cedar Street and West Exchange Street, between South Portage Path and South Broadway: Lane restrictions for road widening and underground utility work until late 2017. Trench work across West Exchange will take place at the intersections of Work Drive/West Exchange and Hyde Avenue/West Exchange until March 24. Traffic will be maintained. There will be some temporary lane closings and shifting of traffic. Gas main installation will continue on the south side of West Cedar between Bishop Street and Akron General Avenue until Wednesday. The work zone will remain closed overnight and shift as the project progresses.
• Ridgecrest Road, between Mayfair Road and Sunnyside Avenue: Closed until Friday for sewer work. A detour is posted.
• West Emerling Avenue, between South Main Street and Firestone Parkway: Closed to traffic until late March for a full improvement project. A detour is posted.
• River Street, between East Exchange Street and South Case Avenue: Closed until October for building demolition work. A detour is posted.
• Merriman Road, between Memorial Parkway and Kingswood Drive: Closed for a gas main replacement and sewer separation project. Detour via Memorial Parkway and North Portage Path. It is expected to be closed until March 31.
• Eaton Avenue, between Newport and Merriman roads: Closed for several months for water main work. A detour is posted. Emergency vehicles have complete access at all times.
• Rand Avenue and Dart Avenue, between Euclid Avenue and West Market Street: Both lanes on each of the streets have been reopened to traffic. Occasional shifting of traffic will occur as work continues. The entrance ramp to state Route 59 East from Euclid Avenue/Dart Avenue and the exit ramp from Route 59 West to Vernon Odom Boulevard have been closed permanently. Traffic will need to continue north on Dart Avenue. Also, the exit ramp from Route 59 East to Cedar Street/Exchange Street is closed for demolition and reconstruction but expected to reopen Tuesday. At that time, the Downtown/Cascade Parking/Market Street exit ramp will become closed for about four months. Route 59 East traffic will take the Cedar Street/Exchange Street exit ramp onto Dart Avenue. The Route 59 West entrance ramp from Rand Avenue/West Cedar Street will remain closed for demolition and reconstruction until June 9. Detours are posted. This is in preparation for the removal of state Route 59 between West Exchange and West Market which is planned for early spring. Traffic will be maintained.
• Glendale Avenue, from Rand Avenue to the intersection of Locust Street: Closed until late 2018 for work on the combined sewer overflows project at the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel. Detours will be posted. The right lane of West Mill Street, west of Dart Avenue and the south 150 feet of Bates Street will also be closed. Detours will be posted.
• Hickory Street, between North Street and Memorial Parkway: Closed until late 2018 to prepare for work on the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel. It includes the temporary relocation of the Towpath Trail to Hickory Street from Maple Street to near Memorial Parkway.

Elsewhere in Summit County:
• State Route 21 southbound, just north of Minor Road in Copley Township: Daily lane restrictions starting Monday until further notice for bridge repairs.
• I-76, between the Medina County line and Central Avenue in Norton and Barberton: Nightly lane restrictions through May for pavement repairs.
• State Route 18/Medina Road in Bath and Copley townships: Route 18/Medina Road between I-77 and Medina Line Road has occasional lane restrictions for road construction.
MEDINA COUNTY:
• I-76, at its interchange with state Route 94 (High Street) in Wadsworth: Intermittent single-lane closings on Route 94 (High Street) as part of the Route 94 corridor improvement project. Work will continue on the structure over I-76 as well as drainage work on Route 94 through the winter.
• U.S. 42 (Pearl Road), from just south of Harding Street to just south of Fenn Road in Medina: Intermittent daytime lane closings along the project corridor for waterline and storm sewer line placement. There will be narrowed lanes of traffic as well as possible lane closings just south of Reagan Parkway for culvert work and water tie-ins. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.
PORTAGE COUNTY:
• State Route 14 at Lake Rockwell in Streetsboro: Closed through late March for emergency bridge replacement. Detour is state Route 303 to state Route 44.
STARK COUNTY:
No current projects to report.
WAYNE COUNTY:
• State Route 3/83 southbound entrance ramp from Cleveland Road: Closed for culvert repair. Detour will be posted. It is expected to reopen Monday.
