You can stock up on cookie dough and baked goods and help out the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, too, at the No Muffin Left Behind sale April 1.
The sale of Main Street Gourmet product will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, 350 Opportunity Parkway, near downtown Akron.
Available will be what the company calls “slightly off spec” bakery products, such as cookie dough, muffins and brownies for $1.25 a pound.
A portion of the proceeds and all unsold product will benefit the Foodbank.
The Akron company sells its frozen muffins, cookies, granola and other baked goods to restaurants and supermarkets nationwide. Main Street Gourmet had its first No Muffin Left Behind sale in 2004, and offers the sale a couple of times a year.
As usual, the sale is first-come, first-serve. Cash, check and major credit cards will be accepted, but not debit cards. For more information, go to http://mainstreetgourmet.com and click on “No Muffin Left Behind” under the “About Us” tab.
Last year, Main Street built a $5 million, 12,000-square-foot addition to its headquarters and plant in Ascot Industrial Park off State Road, in northern-most Akron.
Last June, Main Street officials said annual revenues were approaching $40 million, up from about $6 million in 1995. That was the year Main Street Gourmet - which had by then transformed itself into a wholesale company — moved into the then-25,000-square-foot building in Ascot Industrial Park. The company had about 135 employees last June.
