The Ohio Department of Insurance is hosting a series of free “Welcome to Medicare” workshops in Summit and Stark Counties in April aimed at helping those who will soon be eligible for Medicare understand how the federal health care program works.
Topics will include Medicare Part A and B benefits, the Part D prescription drug benefit, Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage plans, financial assistance, and key registration deadlines.
In Summit County, there will be two sessions April 27 at the Twinsburg Senior Center, 10260 Ravenna Road. The afternoon session begin at 2 p.m., the evening at 6 p.m. To attend, RSVP by calling 330-963-8722.
In Stark County, there will be two sessions April 11 at Mercy Medical Center, 1320 Mercy Drive, NW, Canton. The afternoon session begins at 2 p.m., the evening at 6 p.m. To attend, RSVP by calling 330-489-1215 or 900-223-8862.
Most people 65 years or older who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. qualify for Medicare.
Additionally, some younger people may qualify who have a disability or end-stage renal disease that requires dialysis or a transplant.
