Summa Health's Heart and Vascular Institute has received three new accreditations from the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
The accreditations are:
• Summa's Akron City Hospital has been named an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation
• It also received Heart Failure Accreditation from the ACC
• Summa's Barberton Hospital was named an Accredited Chest Pain Center
The hospital said the accreditation process helps organizations integrate evidence-based science, quality initiatives and clinical best practices into their cardiovascular care practices for heart attack, heart failure and atrial fibrillation patients.
Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States, with 600,000 people dying annually of heart disease. More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain.
“We’re incredibly proud of the state-of-the-art cardiovascular care we provide at Summa Health,” said Dr. Roger Chaffee, chair of the Summa Heart and Vascular Institute. “We are constantly striving for the highest level of care for our patients and the entire community. These accreditations are a testament to those efforts.”
