Ohio’s only recognized third-party candidate for president of the United States will campaign in Cuyahoga Falls on Friday.

Jill Stein of the Green Party will join senatorial candidate Joe DeMare during a campaign stop at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, 2345 Fourth St.

The Green Party candidates offer a more progressive alternative to the Democratic ticket, and a third option in an election year defined by resounding disapproval of the two major party candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Stein, a Harvard University graduate and activist from Chicago, will speak at 8 p.m. DeMare, a Toledo-area factory worker, will speak at 7 p.m. The event is free to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Stein’s pro-environmental platform promises to transition the U.S. from fossil fuels and create jobs through renewable energy resources. The Green Party also believes in a $15 minimum wage, tuition-free college and what it terms social justice.

Stein has stoked controversy in the past month by saying that more questions need answered before ruling out a potential link between autism and vaccines.

Along with Trump, Clinton and Stein, the Ohio ballot also offers a blending of free market conservatism and social liberalism in Libertarian candidate and former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

Johnson, who has no upcoming stops scheduled in Ohio, will appear on the ballot as an independent after rules passed by Republicans made it more difficult for political third parties to place, and keep, their candidates on the ballot.
