Getting to know ‘The King and I’ again
Marni Nixon, who died in July, was one of the great voices of movie musicals, although many people don’t know her name. In the days before Autotune, Nixon dubbed the singing of stars including Natalie Wood in West Side Story, Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady, and Deborah Kerr in The King and I, which is playing in theaters for its 60th anniversary. Watch Kerr, her enormous skirt and Yul Brynner whirl around the ballroom at 2 and 7 p.m. at theaters including Cinemark Portage Crossing, Cuyahoga Falls; Cinemark Macedonia 15; Montrose 12, Akron; Valley View 24; and Tinseltown USA, Jackson Township.
