The maker of Entenmann’s bakery products is voluntarily recalling several items because of the presence of small pieces of plastic caused by a manufacturing failure at an Illinois production site.

Bimbo Bakeries USA of Horsham, Pa., said Wednesday that customers should dispose of the following products or return them to the place of purchase for a refund:

• Entenmann’s Little Bites Fudge Brownies, 5 pack (9.75 oz.) with Oct. 8 expiration.

• Entenmann’s Little Bites Chocolate Chip Muffins, 5 pack (8.25 oz.) with Oct. 8 expiration.

• Entenmann’s Little Bites Chocolate Chip Muffins, 10 pack (1 lb. 0.5 oz.) with Oct. 8 expiration.

• Entenmann’s Little Bites Variety, 20 pack (fudge brownies, chocolate chip muffins and blueberry muffins, 2 lb. 2.5 oz.) with Sept. 24 expiration.

All of the products were distributed to retail stores in the last two weeks.

The company announced the recall after receiving consumer reports of plastic in a product. One injury was reported and the FDA has been notified.

All recalled products are being removed from store shelves and no other Entenmann’s products are affected.

Consumers with questions can call 800-984-0989.
