More than 350 guests showed their support for families and individuals dealing with cancer by attending the 13th annual Butterfly Gala on Saturday.
The gala was held at the home of Honorary Chairwoman Mary Colarik in Bath Township. Regina and Bob Cooper were the recipients of the third annual Stewart’s Caring Place Spirit Award.
“I am a double cancer survivor,” said Margie Easterling, who attended with John Papp.
Mingling in the crowd were Pat Brubaker, Toby Gorant, Dr. Terry Gordon, Mark Munoz, Jon Fiume, Anne Cannon, Ana Betro, Dr. Theresa Beyerle, Skip and Susan Summerville, Joan and Rocco DiLillo and Executive Director Jeannine Marks, and her husband, Steve Marks.
Proceeds from the evening will make it possible for Stewart’s Caring Place to assist more than 1,000 local individuals each year during their cancer journey.
More than 100 people volunteered for the gala, including Lorrin Calderon-Ingersoll, Laura and Mike Allio, Julie and Andy Mikulas and Katie Hasson.
The evening included dinner by Beau’s Grille. There was also a s’mores bar and coffee station.
Services provided by Stewart’s Caring Place include workshops, professional counseling, support groups, children’s programs, wigs and much more at no cost to those in need.
Carrie Washnock is the youngest of seven children. She recalled how difficult it was when her father died from lung cancer five years ago. Katie Kline added, “Everyone I know has been touched by cancer.”
Dawn Nabors said, “My mother had cancer and Stewart’s Caring Place was a great resource for our family and for everyone because we all have different needs when dealing with cancer and they are here to help.”
