Labor fundraiser
AKRON: A labor fundraiser to support Joy Oldfield and Alison Breaux, two Democratic candidates in the November election for Summit County Common Pleas Court judge, will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the United Steelworkers Hall, 501 Kelly Ave.
The hosts will be numerous local labor leaders.
The suggested donation is $10 per candidate.
Oldfield is currently an Akron Municipal Court judge, while Breaux is a municipal court magistrate.
CUYAHOGA FALLS
Historic Chapel luncheon
CUYAHOGA FALLS: The third annual Tea Luncheon fundraiser to benefit the Historic Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery will be held noon to 2:30 p.m., Oct. 1 at Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave.
Tickets are $20 and will feature the program “Fairy Gardens” by Master Gardener Peggy Cartwright.
There will also be a raffle for baskets.

Green on the Green
HUDSON: Green on the Green Day, a Downtown Hudson environment expo, will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo on the town square.
The event will feature exhibitors from around the region with information on tree planting, recycling, composting, rain barrels, energy efficiency in homes and organic landscaping.
Activities include learning how to make rain barrels (registration required), electronic recycling collection, paper shredding, a free energy efficiency kit and prizes for collecting stamps.

Party holds annual auction
KENT: The Portage County Republican Party will host its 26th annual auction fundraiser at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Overlook at Twin Lakes, 1516 Overlook Road.
The evening includes a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, silent auction and a chance to meet candidates. Dinner tickets are $50. Sponsorships are available.

Crash kills two
RAVENNA TWP.: A three-vehicle accident left a child and adult dead around 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jeremy Taylor, 20, of University Heights was driving a military Humvee southeast on state Route 14 when he drove left of center and side-swiped a northwest-bound 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser.
Lisa Mancini, 48, of Ravenna, was driving the Chrysler.
Taylor then struck a northwest-bound 2015 Kia sedan head-on, killing driver Bryan Bargar, 34, and passenger Wyatt Bentley, 6, both from Berea Township. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Mancini was transported to University Hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
STARK COUNTY
Husted office hours
CANTON: Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s office will hold regional office hours from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Stark County District Library, 715 Market Ave.
A liaison for the office will be available to meet with residents as well as provide voter registration forms and election information.
