Summit County will hold a one-stop event Friday to help parents meet child support obligations, reinstate a suspended driver’s license and resolve arrest warrants.

The event, Child Support Solutions Day, will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Ohio Means Jobs Center, 1040 E. Tallmadge Ave. in Akron.

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said in a press release that the program “gives people who owe child support the chance to make things right.”

Walsh said parents struggling to make support payments or seeking answers to questions about their cases can meet with a case manager at the Jobs Center to discuss payment arrangements and support modifications.

Parents who have had their driver’s licenses suspended for failing to pay child support will be able to meet with officials to have their licenses reinstated or to resolve support-related warrants without going to jail.

Those wishing to legally establish paternity also will be able to take a quick, genetic paternity test.

Representatives will be on hand from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Summit County Fiscal Office, Ohio Department of Veterans Affairs, Summit County Common Pleas Court, Summit County Fatherhood Initiative, Ohio Means Jobs Center, Summit County Domestic Relations Court and Oriana House.

Attendees should bring photo identification, current court orders and most recent pay stubs or proof of employment. Pre-registration is available at www.summitcsea.org.

The event is being held in recognition of August as Child Support Awareness Month.
