Cops want community help

Authorities are offering a reward for information leading to the capture of fugitive Davon Irvine, who is believed to be hiding in Akron.

The U.S. Marshals Service and Akron Police Department are seeking Irvine in connection with an aggravated robbery and felonious assault that occurred Dec. 30, according to Beacon Journal news partner NewsNet5.

Irvine and another man are accused of breaking into a man’s home. Police and the U.S. Marshals Service said that after Irvine and the other man put duct tape over the victim’s mouth, they tied his hands behind his back using a zip tie and Irvine hit him several times with a pistol and demanded money.

The victim’s brother was also attacked, Channel 5 said.

Authorities believe Irvine is in the Akron area.

He had a previous address near the 1100 block of Copley Avenue in Akron.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 866-4WANTED or text keyword WANTED and tip to 847411 (tip411).

Tipsters can remain anonymous and reward money is available.

GREEN

Pavers for veterans

GREEN: City residents can honor military veterans in time for Veterans Day, Nov. 11, by purchasing inscribed brick pavers to be displayed in Green Veterans Memorial Park.

And some will be provided free.

Mayor Gerard Neugebauer is offering free 4- by 8-inch pavers to Green veterans because he said he believes every veteran should be remembered with an inscribed paver at the city’s memorial, which was dedicated in 2010.

The pavers will become part of the park’s Stories of Service Grove Walkway at 1900 Steese Road.

Veterans are invited to complete a paver form available in the city’s Parks and Recreation Division office within the Central Administration Building at 1755 Town Park Blvd., or download it at www.cityofgreen.org/veterans-park.

Pavers also are available to residents wishing to salute a veteran at a cost of $50 for a 4- by- 8-inch paver or $100 for an 8- by 8-inch paver. There are three lines for the smaller paver and six lines for the larger paver. Each line has a maximum of 20 characters, spaces and punctuation marks.

Those wishing to donate to the fund to help defray the cost of the free pavers can also fill out a form and be linked to a veteran who registers for a free paver.

Sept. 28 is the deadline to order pavers that will be dedicated Nov. 11. Payment is by cash or check only. The project is expected to be completed in time for Veterans Day next year, Neugebauer said.
