Gotta love this strange film

“You can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!” See the black Cold War comedy Dr. Strangelove on the big screen. (If you only know Peter Sellers as the bumbling inspector Dr. Clouseau from the Pink Panther films, you’ll be impressed by his performance here, playing three different roles.) Showtimes 2 and 7 p.m. and Wednesday and cinemas include Montrose 12, Akron; Cinemark Cuyahoga Falls; Cinemark 15, Macedonia; Valley View 24; and Movies 10, Wooster. www.fathomevents.com.

Barberton immigrants’ influence

Local historian Sarah Hays talks about the influence of immigrants on the community of Barberton at 2:30 p.m. in the Spillette Meeting Room of the Barberton Public Library. She’ll address the religious and cultural institutions that were organized to preserve heritage, ethnic neighborhoods and activities, and the businesses that brought people there to work. The talk is free and light refreshments will be served.

Roots-rock Grace Potter performs

Roots-rock singer-songwriter Grace Potter plays the Canton Palace Theatre at 8 p.m., with opening act Muddy Magnolias. Tickets are $30-$54 at 330-454-8172, www.cantonpalacetheatre.org.
