Teen charged in dad’s death
A South Carolina boy, 14, was charged as a juvenile Friday with murder and three counts of attempted murder after authorities say he killed his father and opened fire on students at a school playground, wounding three people. The boy did not show any emotion as he walked into the courtroom wearing a yellow jumpsuit. He was unrestrained, not wearing handcuffs or leg shackles, as required by state law in most juvenile cases. As the hearing unfolded, one of the wounded students, Jacob Hall, 6, was on life support and fighting for his life at a hospital.

Judge won’t dismiss lawsuit
A federal judge in San Francisco has refused to dismiss a lawsuit by Planned Parenthood over videos that purport to show employees of the organization illegally selling parts of aborted fetuses. U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick ruled Friday that Planned Parenthood’s racketeering and other claims against the Center for Medical Progress could move forward. Planned Parenthood has denied any wrongdoing in connection with its fetal tissue practices and says the videos were deceptively edited. It accuses the center of engaging in extensive criminal misconduct in the process of producing the videos.

Man wears plastic wrap bikini
Police say a man, 59, who wore a bikini fashioned out of see-through plastic wrap on a New Jersey beach is facing a criminal charge. They say Stephen Wojciehowski spent two days on a Long Beach Island beach wearing a homemade bikini in which his genitals were clearly exposed and was charged with lewdness. NJ.com reports the Stafford Township man was arrested Monday and released pending further court proceedings.

Paintball guns worry police
Connecticut police are calling for a cease-fire in a Paintball Gun War before something tragic happens. The New Haven Police Department on Friday issued a warning that many paintball guns resemble assault-style weapons and officers can’t quickly determine if the guns are real when answering emergency calls. Police this week have responded to a dozen calls about shootings in which paintball and BB guns were involved. They say some of the incidents have resulted in serious injuries.
