Do woolly bear caterpillars or abundant acorns really foretell the severity of the winter ahead? Get ‘Goosebumps’ hearing about zombies at readings
It’s a very literary Monday in Northeast Ohio:
• Tickets may still remain for a talk by Max Brooks, author of zombie-themed books such as World War Z, at 7:30 p.m. at Kent State Stark’s Conference Center in Great Timken Hall. From WWI to WWZ: Learning from Our Mistakes, is the theme of the talk by Brooks, who’s the son of comedian, actor and director Mel Brooks and late Oscar-winning actress Anne Bancroft. 25-cent dogs and coffee at Stray Dog Cafe opening
The new Stray Dog Cafe downtown holds a grand opening celebration with 25-cent turkey dogs and 25-cent coffee. It’s in the Akron-Summit County Main Library, and hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. It offers both basic and dressed-up hot dogs familiar to those who’ve patronized the Stray Dog food cart, as well as soup and sandwiches. Check out Stray Dog’s Facebook page for more information.
