The trial of a man linked to the killings of at least four women in Ohio has been scheduled for next year.
A judge in Ashland County Common Pleas Court on Monday set the date of Shawn Grate’s trial for Nov. 6, 2017. The final pretrial hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29.
Grate, who was arrested in September, is charged in the deaths of two women whose bodies were found in a house that was thought to be vacant in Ashland. Authorities say Grate also has confessed to killing two other women. He hasn’t been charged in those deaths.
In other news, authorities say police officers shot an Ohio man to death because he stabbed a cop.
The man was identified Monday as Jun Wang, 45. He died at a hospital after being shot Friday in North Royalton. Family members say he had a history of mental illness.
The injured officer was treated at a hospital for knife wounds to his face and leg. A North Royalton police spokesman says officers were helping paramedics get Wang into an ambulance for a court-ordered admission to a mental health facility. The Cuyahoga County sheriff’s office is investigating.
