AKRON

Argument turns deadly

AKRON: An Akron woman was charged with felonious assault after she hit her boyfriend with a car and he died early Friday.

Angelique Santa, 34, told police she was arguing with her boyfriend, Thomas Holcomb, 41, of Cuyahoga Falls around 1 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of Oakland Avenue when she backed out of the driveway and struck Holcomb.

Akron police responded to a man down in the driveway, and when they arrived, Holcomb was transported to Akron City Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died around 9:45 a.m. Friday morning.

Santa was booked into the Summit County Jail. Police expect she’ll receive additional charges.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.

Break-in at Bob’s Hamburg

AKRON: Police are asking for help in solving a breaking and entering at Bob’s Hamburg, 1341 East Ave.

The suspect broke into the restaurant between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Nov. 10 and stole items and fled.

Police posted surveillance video (see it at http://bit.ly/2g6KnEV) of the break-in on YouTube. It shows the man wandering through the restaurant.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call detectives at 330-375-2490.

Mulch fire closes road

AKRON: A large mulch fire at Akron’s Finest Mulch, 1735 Copley Road, closed a portion of Copley Road just west of Interstate 77 through the morning and some of the afternoon Friday.

The fire was reported at 3:30 a.m. Friday, and firefighters were on the scene battling the blaze until about 1:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The cause is believed to be pieces of mulch rubbing against each other, authorities said.

CANTON

Boy, 13, was missing, found

CANTON: City police in said a Facebook post Friday that a boy who had been reported missing was found and returned home safely.

Police had posted a photo and missing person alert Thursday on their Facebook page in an effort to locate Cameron Scott Shipley, 13.

No other information was immediately available.

STOW

2 men rob 7 Eleven store

STOW: City police are looking for two men who robbed the 7 Eleven, 3050 Graham Road, at 3:16 a.m. Wednesday.

The clerk reported that one man pulled a “9 mm-style gun” from his waistband and demanded money, while the other waited outside.

The clerk placed the register drawer on the counter, and the man grabbed the cash and ran, authorities said.

The gunman was described as a black man in his 20s wearing a red mask, dark blue hoodie, white work gloves, black athletic shorts, black tights and black shoes with white soles.
