Festivities ramp up in Peninsula

There’s going to be a lot of bad breath as Ramp Up Peninsula celebrates the pungent wild leek, which also goes by the name “little stinker.” Lots of chefs and food purveyors will be cooking with ramps, and there will be vendors, artists and local music, too. It runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Heritage Farms, 6050 Riverview Road, Peninsula. For more information, go to www.explorepeninsula.com.

Travel to independent bookstores

It’s Independent Bookstore Day, and eight Northeast Ohio bookstores are offering a passport; get six stamps for a chance to win prizes. Each store has planned activities, sales and refreshments. Akron-area stores are the Bookseller in Akron, the Learned Owl in Hudson and the Book Store & Handmade Marketplace in Medina.

Meditate at Akron Art Museum

It’s also World Tai Chi Qigong Day, and you can try out the ancient meditative practice with a free program from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden at Akron Art Museum. http://akronartmuseum.org.

Find trolls in scavenger hunt

The Troll Hole Museum hosts the third annual “Trolls Loose on Main!” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in downtown Alliance. The day will include a scavenger hunt to find escaped trolls. Pick up a treasure map at the Troll Hole Museum, 228 E. Main St., then visit the 16 shops in the historic downtown Main Street to find the missing crazy-haired dolls. http://thetrollhole.com.

Hear chorus in 70th annual show

Hear some old-fashioned harmony as the Derbytown Men’s Chorus presents its 70th annual show at 7:30 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls High School Auditorium. Tickets are $20 adults, $5 children and students. 330-690-6158, www.derbytownchorus.org.
