See a songwriters concert at Akron Civic Theatre

The Akron Songwriters Festival presents two concerts at the Akron Civic Theatre. Attend Budweiser Clydesdales parade in Kent

They don’t really kick field goals or engage in snowball fights like you see in Super Bowl ads, but the Budweiser Clydesdales are still plenty impressive just being themselves. Catch them from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in downtown Kent, including a two-hour parade that steps off at 6:30 on North Water Street near the Hometown Bank Plaza. For more information, go to www.mainstreetkent.org.

Catch a glimpse of the Perseif meteor shower

The Perseid meteor shower is expected to peak tonight, and this year’s is forecast to be spectacular, with possibly twice as many shooting stars as usual. Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton is holding a sky watch from 9 to 11 p.m. at the Bathhouse, 5000 Hametown Road, Norton. Or just find yourself a dark spot, spread a blanket and look straight up to see one of nature’s wonders.
